DPD Austria parcel company reports strong growth in volume

DPD Austria – Austria’s leading parcel delivery company – has grown considerably in the first term of 2017. The parcel volume grew 6.7 percent compared to the first term 2016, to a total of 22,6 million parcels, according to a press release of the company.

“Enhancing our services, investing into our depots and implementing innovative logistic concepts has paid off already. We are satisfied with the first six months of 2017, but cannot and will not rest on this success, but we are striving to develop our quality standards”, says Rainer Schwarz, managing director DPD Austria.

The amount of delivered parcels per day has also increased considerably. 181.000 parcels were delivered in the first term 2017. In 2016 the amount totalled 175.000.

Most of those parcels were sent and delivered within Austria – 12,45 million parcels in total. This is an increase of about 5 percent compared to the same period in 2016. 2.5 million parcels (+ 8.6%) were delivered abroad, 7.7 million parcels were coming from abroad to Austria – up 9,2 percent.

Rainer Schwarz: “Thanks to our continuous investments, we are well prepared for this growing parcel volume. DPD invests more than EUR 4.5 million in total this year. The lion’s share is earmarked for the expansion of our depots, especially the main handling hub in Linz/ Hörsching.
