DPD Austria reports plus in turnover for 2009

B2B parcel delivery service DPD Austria profits from customer-oriented expansion of its service range

Despite difficult conditions the year 2009 was a successful one for the B2B parcel delivery service DPD Austria. Turnover amounted to EUR 147.1 million and was up 1.6 per cent on 2008. Thus the enterprise defended its leading position as a parcel delivery service in the B2B segment. “It wasn’t given for us to reach a plus in turnover in hard times like these. Our target for 2009 was to maintain the level of 2008“, Rainer Schwarz (49), Managing Director DPD Austria GmbH, is glad about the results.

According to the Management’s statements the critical factor for the positive annual result was the customer-oriented expansion of the services. In particular the newly introduced catalogue shipping service received a positive response among customers. So did the text message note service, which informs recipients about the arrival of the parcel in due time via mobile phone.

DPD Austria delivered 35.7 million parcels in the reporting period. In the domestic market the parcel delivery service recorded a decline of 3.3 per cent, whereas export volume increased 4.2 per cent.

DPD Austria (Direct Parcel Distribution) based in Leopoldsdorf near Vienna is Austria’s leading private B2B service provider for national and international parcel distribution. The enterprise has around 1,500 employees and operates a transport fleet of 900 vehicles.
