DSV gives Toys”R”Us support in transport and logistics services

Dealing with seasonal changes in workload: DSV in Poland has just prolonged their contract with one of the world’s leading toy companies

DSV will provide further transport and logistical services for Toys“R”Us as they expand their operations in Europe. The agreement comes in the lead up to the end-of-year holiday season, which will see a dramatic increase in the demand for children’s toys globally.  Toys“R”Us decision to work with DSV was not only based on location and storage infrastructure, but focused on our experience in handling global brands and our ability to provide complex services.

On average, DSV holds about 2,500 pallets in inventory for Toys“R”Us. However, volume can vary greatly during the holiday season, which demands specialised attention and increased manpower. Inbound and outbound traffic can increase by several thousand pallets from month to month, reaching tens of thousands of cartons. Add to that the variety of goods, makes one of the most challenging customers for DSV in Poland.

Toys“R”Us has opened six stores across Poland since 2011. And with DSV as their main logistics partner, keeping up with the rapid expansion of one of the world’s largest toy retailers can be a challenge. Its global network consists over 1500 stores selling a range of toy and baby products.

“The services we provide for Toys“R”Us are as demanding as their youngest customers – you have to be prepared for everything. We needed some time to understand the expectations and efficiently respond to changes in volume and assortments,“ says Maciej Walenda, Managing Director, DSV Solutions Poland.
