DSV installs booze barrier
DSV is to prevent drunk driving at its cross-docking facility in Jönköping in Sweden with an alcohol barrier which requires that drivers pass an automated sobriety check.
Once Jönköping drivers have passed the breath test, the barrier will open and allow them to leave the DSV premises. If the breath test is positive the barrier will remain closed and if subsequent tests are positive, the authorities will be alerted.
“With the introduction of the alcohol barrier we send an important signal not only to the truck drivers but also to other DSV staff, our customers and the general public that we take our responsibility for safety seriously,” said DSV Road, Sweden deputy managing director, David Möller.
DSV Sweden intends to continue to invest in safety-promoting initiatives including more alcohol barriers. DSV’s Landskrona terminal is next to install an alcohol barrier.
