EgyptAir adds destinations and capacity
EgyptAir has increased its cargo capacity from the UK and Ireland with the addition of two more flights per week from London Heathrow to its Cairo hub. The airline’s cargo subsidiary, Egyptair Cargo, now has access to 11 passenger flights per week from the UK, operated with A330 and B777 aircraft, supplemented by twice-weekly freighter services from Kent International and Brussels, and a weekly freighter flight from Ostend. Egyptair continues to increase its network and frequencies from Cairo, most recently with the addition of twice-weekly services to Juba (Sudan); it has also announced plans to add Lusaka, Copenhagen and Azerbaijan to its network of over 70 destinations spanning Egypt, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia. IAM, the GSSA for EgyptAir Cargo in Ireland, uses its own express overnight road feeders to connect with Egyptair flights from London. Welcoming the increased capacity and new destination options now available to its customers, IAM’s MD Ian McCool says: “The growth in EgyptAir frequency, capacity and network are providing the Irish market with attractive new service options for many of those key destinations in constant demand both for Ireland’s growing pharmaceuticals exports, and its existing IT traffic. “The airline’s freighters also continue to offer important capacity for large shipments that cannot be split, outsize cargo and those commodities that are not permitted on passenger aircraft.” EgyptAir is one of the world’s longest-established airlines, with a fleet currently comprising 66 aircraft, and 18 more aircraft on order. Egyptair Cargo was established as a separate subsidiary in 2002, and additionally operates four A300 freighters.
