England Logistics joins EPA SmartWay

England Logistics has joined the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a SmartWay Transport Partner.

The SmartWay Transport Partner program helps transportation companies calculate their environmental performance and set improvement goals designed to significantly reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution.

With initiatives to promote energy efficiency and air quality within the freight transportation sector, England Logistics will contribute to the Partnership’s savings of 1.5 billion gallons of fuel, $3.6 billion in fuel costs, 14.7 MMT of CO2, 215,000 tons of NOx and 8,000 tons of particulate matter. Launched in February 2004, the SmartWay Transport Partnership brings together major freight shippers, trucking companies, railroads, logistics companies and trade/professional associations to pursue mutually beneficial strategies that result in emissions reductions and other environmental improvements. "For the past 14 years we’ve helped our carrier base reduce fuel waste through optimising driving routes, energy efficient tyre purchase assistance, fuel card programs, and many other successful initiatives," said Josh England, president of England Logistics. "But now, as a SmartWay Transport Partner, we are an active vehicle of change for one of the largest sustainable freight transportation movements in the world."

England Logistics will begin to provide information to actively help other carriers become SmartWay Transport Partners.
