EPAS gets new mobile cranes for port operations in Emden

The Emden container handling company Ems Ports Agency & Stevedoring Beteiligungs GmbH & Co. KG (EPAS) is currently receiving two new Liebherr LHM 420 Litronic mobile cranes. The two devices, the purchase of which is financially supported by the state of Lower Saxony, replace the container bridge, which has been decommissioned for more than a year, and the previously used Gottwald mobile harbor crane.

With the new investment, EPAS can once again significantly improve the logistical processes at the Nordkai terminal in Emden: In the tandem lift, packages weighing up to 250 tonnes can be loaded in the future. Greater productivity is also achieved through the ability to handle multiple ships simultaneously.

“The purchase of the two very powerful new Liebherr cranes is the prelude to a series of investments we are planning, to provide our customers with the best possible service and competitive positioning in the future,” says Heinrich Smidt, Managing Director of Ems Ports Agency & Stevedoring Bet. GmbH & Co. KG. For example, a new reachstacker of the Kalmar brand has already been delivered this week.

The Ems Ports Agency & Stevedoring Bet. GmbH & Co. KG is active in the port of Emden as transhipment company, stevedoring, ship agent and in the chartering of sea and inland waterway vessels. The support of shipyard ships, new constructions and repair ships in the North German seaports is also part of the range of services of the company. Another focus of EPAS is stuffing, transhipment and international transport of class I hazardous goods. EPAS is also active as a ship agent and forwarder in the ports of Bremerhaven, Cuxhaven and Papenburg.
