Europa Road appoints head of customs for post-Brexit role

Lieven Hendrickx has joined Europa Road as head of customs, as the 3PL prepares for operations after the Brexit transition period.

Hendrickx joins from the Belgian postal group bpost, where he was cross-border project manager, and previously he spent five years at Deloitte.

He will initially be based in Oostende, Belgium, managing a team of 15 based in France, Belgium, and the UK. Europa is recruiting for additional customs supervisors and clerks across all of its sites as it further prepares for Brexit.

Andrew Baxter, managing director of Europa Worldwide Group, said. “The Brexit transition period is quickly coming to an end. Soon all goods travelling between the UK and the EU will need to go through a customs process.

“Whilst some areas are still unclear, we must all ensure we [are]prepared. Creating our own team, headed up by a skilled operator such as Lieven, means that both Europa and our customers will be in the strongest position on 1 January 2021.”
