Europe-US container rates fall

Container rates between Europe and the US East Coast have fallen by 19 per cent on last year, according to the Freightos International Freight Index.

The rate from Europe to the US East Cost is $1,250 – that is ten per cent down on last week and 19 per cent down on last year.

However, rates between China and Europe have remained stable – the rate for a 40 foot container from China to Europe this week is $1,400.

Rates from China to the US West Coast are down 15 per cent on last year, and to the US East Coast are now 17 per cent on last year.
