European sports win for Norbert

Sporting goods firm Amer Sports has awarded Norbert Dentressangle a ten-year contract extension, to take responsibility of its entire European logistics operation.
The company is also building a new 52,000 sq m automated warehouse in Lyon, France, due to be complete in 2015, to support the deal.
It says the new facility will improve customer service by both enhancing preparation capacity, and reducing order processing time. It said the site will also optimise the use of storage space.
The contract extension comes as part of the company’s supply chain reconfiguration, where it hopes to improve customer service levels, grow sales, and rationalise logistics costs.
Norbert will now provide goods receipt, warehousing, order picking and preparation, delayed product customisation and despatch services to all Amer Sports customers, including major distribution companies, retail chains and independent stores.
Having previously only handled Amer’s Mavic brand, StĂ©phane Point, chief executive officer of Norbert Dentressangle Logistics France, said: “We are very proud to have been selected by Amer Sports to support the continued growth of all its iconic brands. This contract is an illustration of our ability, not only to design innovative solutions but to invest in making them a reality.”
Finland-based Amer Sports offers a range of international sports brands, including Mavic, Wilson, Suunto, Salomon, Arc’teryx, and Atomic.
