Expansion of Gefco group in Poland and Czech Republic

Logistics platform in Rzeszów (Poland) and branch in Ostrava (Czech Republic) are the latest members to join the CEE network of the Gefco group

In the past weeks the Gefco group (Paris) has added two new locations to its network in Middle and Eastern Europe. The Polish subsidiary of the globally operating specialist for industrial logistics services established a new logistics platform in Rzeszów in the southeast of the country, in October. “The site in Rzeszów will mainly serve the industrial sector, however, we are flexible enough to also serve customers from other sectors“, says Marcin Trautman, branch manager in Rzeszów.

Establishing the new platform Gefco expands its distribution network in Poland and will be able to cut transport time of most national transportations to 24 hours. Moreover the location contributes to the further development of the international network. Marcin Trautman: “We want to connect Rzeszów with Ukraine, Slovakia, Romania and Turkey soon.“

A new location in the city of Ostrava, North Moravia, has been added to the Gefco network in the Czech Republic. Its focus lies on overland and overseas. Since the start of operation more than 35,000 tonnes of goods have been moved by this branch, mainly on the railway. In the next five years 500,000 tonnes (exports and imports) are expected to be handled per year. “The rail network and its connections to the neighbouring countries is a big opportunity for this region“, emphasises Aleksander Raczynski, managing director of the Czech branch.
