FHP Forst Holz Papier further relies on the Rail Cargo Group

Forst Holz Papier cooperative platform and Rail Cargo Group extend their collaboration; small adjustments of the „sheet prices“ as of 1 July 2014

The collaboration of the  Forst Holz Papier (FHP) cooperative platform and Rail Cargo Group is to be extended to 2017 as part of a three years agreement. Joint initiatives in the past years enabled the forestry, lumber and paper industry to keep a major part of the important wood transports in Austria on the railway. This shall continue to be an objective, as ÖBB informs in a press release.

Freight tariffs for national shipments (sheet prices) are to expire as of 30 June 2014 and will be marginally adjusted as of 1 July 2014.

Furthermore a decision was taken to analyse the development of the consumer price index in the course of further negotiations between FHP and Rail Cargo Group by the end of 2015, and discuss a potential adjustment of the sheet price due to strong changes – up or downwards, respectively.

In addition the further development and optimisation of the core network for wood, the installation of an area-covering transport control, optimisation and provision of transport boxes and a concrete method for cleaning of the loading lane has been agreed.

FHP is a pan-European cooperative of all industries processing wood as a raw, recyclable and working material, ranging from the forestry industry to the saw, panel and paper industry, as well as wood construction and trade. About 300,000 persons in more than 172,000 mainly family-owned small and medium sized enterprises in Austria are gaining their wages with wood as a recyclable and working material. The production value of the entire value added chain is about EUR 12 billion; the average export surplus is about EUR 3.5 billion.
