Fiege: Logistics for the furniture fittings manufacturer Hettich

Hettich develops and produces various functional fittings. From drawer systems and guidance systems to hinges as well as sliding and folding door systems. The family-owned company from the East Westphalian town of Kirchlengern with an annual turnover of EUR 1 billion and more than 6,600 employees worldwide produces this intelligent technology – more than 1 million hinges per day – for well-known furniture manufacturers, construction and specialist stores.

At the new logistics site in Melle, Fiege assembles and distributes various sets of drawer systems for a furniture retailer. Since December, the company has been active for Hettich on 6,000 m², initially with 25 employees.

“We receive the individual parts, store them and pack the drawer sets on time to ship them,” explains branch manager Heiner Lügger. So the screws, frames, wooden floors and ducts are put together in a package to allow the end customer to take the drawer systems immediately for his individually assembled piece of furniture.

The first delivery was sent in mid-February. During the ramp-up phase until the middle of the year, several dozen additional employees will be hired and the product and service portfolio for Hettich will be purposefully expanded.

Fiege, headquartered in Greven, Westphalia, is one of the leading providers of contract logistics in Europe. With more than 12,900 employees worldwide, the Group generated sales of EUR 1.55 billion in 2017. 185 locations and cooperations in 15 countries with 2.9 million m² storage and logistics space form a close-knit logistical network.
