Formula E renews logistics partnership with DHL
DHL will continue to be the official logistics partner of the Formula E World Championship, after the two organisations agreed a multi-year partnership extension.
DHL has been a partner of the motor racing competition since its inception in 2013. This news comes as Formula E prepares to enter a new era with the launch of Gen3 – the third generation of cars.
Sustainability has been a key focus for DHL’s Formula E logistics operations, with the competition set to move around the world for 16 races in 11 cities. In addition to a range of European destinations, countries including USA, Mexico, South Africa, India, and Brazil are all hosting races.
The logistics giant expects to travel nearly 90,000 km for the upcoming season and claims that it will be using biofuels for ‘all road and sea freight’. The company will be ‘moving approximately 415 tons [376 tonnes] of valuable freight per race, including race cars, batteries, charging units, broadcast equipment, and marketing and hospitality equipment’.
Matt Scammell, Chief Commercial Officer at Formula E, said: “DHL helped bring Formula E to life and has been a valued partner ever since.”
He explained: “DHL plays a critical function in the delivery of every race event around the world, pioneering cutting-edge solutions in efficiency and sustainability, making them a perfect fit for the championship and our mission.”
Logistics operations for Formula E will already be back in full flow as the season kicked off in Mexico City on 14 January.
