Foundation of the ‘LRA – Logistics Research Austria‘ association

‘LRA – Logistics Research Austria‘ starts as a new platform for research and development in the segments logistics, supply chain management and transport

A new research institution specialising in the segments of logistics, supply chain management and transport has been established in Austria. The just founded association named ‘LRA – Logistics Research Austria‘ wants to make the performance of its members visible on an international level, and optimise the use of existing resources.

The cooperative initiative of Dr. Friedrich Starkl, professor at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Campus for management in Steyr, joins universities, universities of applied science as well as non-university research institutes from all over Austria.

The cooperation in the segments of research and development of logistics, supply chain management and transport aims to

intensify interdisciplinarity

utilise complementarity of contents

avoid redundances

allow for a greater variety of subjects without loosing scientific depth

increase international visibility and

compensate for resources (e.g. staff, equipment,…) in case of content and/or time bottlenecks

The LRA members are: AIT Austrian Institute of Technology (Mobility Department), FH des BFI Wien, FH Joanneum, FH OÖ Campus Hagenberg & Wels, Ghega-Institut der FH St. Pölten, Logistikum Steyr, Institut für Produktions- und Logistikmanagement an der JKU Linz, FH Technikum Wien, RISC Software GmbH, TU Graz, Universität für Bodenkultur, V-Research, WU Wien and as a partner from Germany – FH Würzburg-Schweinfurt. About 60 researchers and developers are intensively exchanging their experiences. More logistic and transport relevant institutions shall join and strengthen the cooperation.

Prof. Tina Wakolbinger (WU Wien), Dr. Jakob Puchinger (AIT) and Dr. Friedrich Starkl (Logistikum der FH OÖ) form the executive board of the association.
