Frigolo is massively expanding its logistics centre

Frigologo has recently launched the expansion of its temperature-controlled transhipment area for all kinds of food in Maria Lanzendorf, near Vienna. Upon completion a total of around 23,000 m² of warehouse space and 2,000 m² of office space will be available in spring 2018.

“The first step is to expand the transhipment area,” explains Friedrich Zechmann, Managing Director of Frigologo. “This first additional building will be completed in December. By the spring of 2018, an additional warehouse with 11,000 pallet spaces will be built.” In the new logistics facilities, chocolate, meat, milk, convenience and other products will be stored and picked in a product-specific and energy-efficient manner in four separate temperature zones from 0°C to +18°C.

The separate temperature zones are crucial to ensure the high quality standard of Frigolo: “Our new temperature-controlled warehouses enable us to offer also meat logistics. This requires a constant temperature of zero to two degrees,” says Friedrich Zechmann. But also delicate brand items, such as chocolate and other confectionery, can now be stored in large quantities at 14 to 18 degrees, and transported further.

Through the expansion of the storage and handling halls, more countries in South Eastern Europe can be served from Maria Lanzendorf. In addition to Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Romania and Bulgaria, also Moldova and Georgia will be called.

In the Vienna area, the sister company Coolog now also offers micro-delivery, branch delivery, catering and catering supplies. Through the extension of the transhipment area, Maria Lanzendorf is now used as East-West hub for Frigolo.

“Our customers include large food retailers and producers, as well as small manufacturers, who are supported by an optimized platform logistics regardless of the delivery volume. For example, Frigologo is the only supplier to provide comprehensive, temperature-controlled transport of bulk goods not only to Germany, Italy, France and Benelux, but also to all major Eastern European countries,” explains Fritz Herzog, founder of Frigologo.

Founded in 1991 by Fritz Herzog, Frigologo, headquartered in Seekirchen, Salzburg, is one of the largest full range suppliers of temperature-controlled food logistics in the CEE. With offices in Seekirchen, Vienna, Sattledt, Graz, Budapest and Ljubljana, where a new logistics center was built at the beginning of 2017 on an area of 6,000 m², the company offers all services of a comprehensive logistics network from production and trade to warehousing, picking, cross docking and value added services. More than 250 employees generate annual sales of around EUR 60 million.
