Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic sets the course for further growth

2013 consignment record motivates Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic to make more targeted investments; planned site expansion in the Brno area

Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic achieved a record volume in 2013. With over 1.2 million consignments transported last year, the transport and logistics provider has exceeded its previous record by 25 per cent. “This corresponds to a revenue increase of seven per cent,” the company announces in its news release.

A large contributor to this success is the land transport business, which accounts for two thirds of the added value. The air & sea freight and logistics service areas each contributed 20 per cent.

“The continuous development in the Czech Republic is very gratifying for us,” says Reinhold Grasser, Regional Director of Gebrüder Weiss North, on the growth. “We believe in the country’s economic strength. This is why we want to continue to make targeted investments and continue on this successful course with our young, dynamic team on site,” adds Harald Prohaska, Country Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic.

According to his statements Gebrüder Weiss has been able to win new customers in 2013 despite a slight recession in the Czech Republic, with targeted market appearances and focussed campaigns. As the Czech economy should relax again in 2014 according to forecasts, the company was optimistic about the future and expects further growth.

Gebrüder Weiss has been represented through their own subsidiary in the Czech Republic since 1992, and has since then been continuously expanding its local network to all important hubs in the country. In April 2013, the new headquarters built with an investment of around EUR 15 million in Jeneč near Prague commenced operations. A new branch was opened only recently in the Bohemian town of Jablonec nad Nisou. With the planned site expansion in the Brno area, Gebrüder Weiss is also setting the right course in Moravia for further consolidation of its position in Central and Eastern Europe.
