UPS introduces new services for temperature-sensitive goods

Temperature True Portfolio of UPS provides choice between the speed of air freight and the economies of ocean freight shipping

UPS, the globally operating logistics company managing parcel and freight transport, is marketing new service levels as part of its UPS Temperature True portfolio. The company aims to increase effectiveness of the full range of temperature-sensitive healthcare products.

Healthcare and pharmaceutical companies can now choose from service levels based on the degree of control needed, leveraging both the speed of air and the economies of ocean freight.

“Safety of the products is ensured along the entire supply chain. Expanded service levels offer different stages of risk mitigation, to adjust transport requirements to the customers’ needs“, they inform in a press release.

In detail, service levels will include:

•  UPS Temperature True Plus® for both active and passive shipments that maintains the strictest of temperature ranges in transit. The service includes comprehensive processes for managing shipments with the highest degree of risk mitigation.

•  UPS Temperature True Standard®, is a new offering which is ideal for shipments that need lower levels of in-transit monitoring, while still helping healthcare companies maintain product compliance and peace of mind.

•  UPS Temperature True Saver®, a first-to-market standardised ocean freight solution for temperature-sensitive shipments, is currently being piloted with customers and will roll out early in 2014. This option is ideal for large volume shipments where cost management and regulatory compliance are both paramount.

“In the healthcare segment the number of temperature-sensitive products is growing. New markets are arising and legal regulations for transport are continuously enhanced“, says Daniel Gagnon, Director Strategy and Marketing in the healthcare segment of UPS Europe. “The service options of  UPS Temperature True helps customers to make their supply chains more efficient.“
