Geek+ says its robots saved over 120,000 tonnes of carbon emissions in 2022

According to mobile robotics soultions provider Geek+, its goods-to-person systems have helped save over 127,000 tonnes of carbon emissions and 16 million KwH in energy in 2022.

This statistic comes from internal tracking data from the 30,000 Geek+ robots in operation, with calculations based on average energy consumption from traditional warehouse operations compared to those within AMR-supported warehouses.

Geek+ says that its robots ‘replace high energy consuming logistics equipment, and reduce the use of electricity, lighting, and air-conditioning in the warehouse as robots operate in dark areas’. The company draws attention to the robots’ low power consumption and long battery life expectancy, which it says is 60% higher than the industry average.

Founder and Chief Executive of Geek+ Yong Zheng said: “We are proud to see the positive impact our robotic solutions are having on sustainable logistics, a major objective for our industry.

“From our own production and solution deployment, to enabling retailers and logistics providers meet their goals, logistics robots play a major role in making logistics more sustainable.

“This is just a step in the right direction. Building a sustainable future is a common goal, and as the main connector for moving goods, the supply chain is at the heart of this mission.

“Geek+ will continue to work towards making logistics more sustainable.”

The company’s sustainability efforts are focused on not only helping customers meet their sustainability goals but ensuring sustainable practises within its own production line.

Geek+ insists on up to 80% reusable robot parts, long battery life cycles, and battery recycling partners as well as smart logistics planning throughout the manufacturing process.

Geek+ (Stand i602) will be at IntraLogisteX on 28-29 March 2023 at the NEC Birmingham. For more information, visit www.intralogistex.co.uk.
