Gefco continues expansion in Central Europe and Balkans

Pierre-Jean Lorrain assumes management for the Central Europe, Balkans and Middle East region of the Gefco group; his team shall generate further growth

The Gefco group’s Central Europe, Balkans and Middle East region is headed by a new manager. Pierre-Jean Lorrain (52), previous managing director of the Italian subsidiary, shall boost the presence of the specialist in the segments of automobile and industrial logistics in his new function. The enterprise will consolidate its expansion in this region by recruiting new staff in all segments (positions in the management, operations and support).

“This dynamic region of countries seeing an economic change has a strong development ahead. Gefco is very interessted in participating in this growth. I am proud of contributing to the implementation of the ambitious plans of the group in this strategically important region, and mobilise operative and social synergies therefore“, says Pierre-Jean Lorrain in a first statement.

From the perspective of Gefco the region with its thriving processing industry provides secure growth prospects, and not only in the automotive sector, but also in the fields of aviation, energy, consumer goods and industry. „Our goal is to align ourselves as closely as possible to the local needs,“ explains Pierre-Jean Lorrain. The most important customers in the region include Ford, General Motors, Volkswagen and Audi as well as international industrial companies such as Electrolux and Schneider Electric.

With the recent establishment of new subsidiaries in Bulgaria (2011), in the United Arab Emirates (2013) and in Croatia (2013) Gefco has used the dynamics of the region and complemented its existing locations in Germany, Austria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary. Due to the Croatian subsidiary transports are gaining volume and flexibility in many neighbouring countries such as Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro.
