Gefco: New logistics concept for Peugeot Group Austria

Gefco has expanded its location in Trnava, Slovakia. The logistics partner of Groupe PSA (Peugeot, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Opel) will distribute almost all vehicles of these brands for the Austrian market via the Trnava hub. 53 new jobs will be created.

The all-round logistics company is responsible for the entire supply chain of Groupe PSA: from the transport of motor vehicles from Groupe PSA production plants throughout Europe to individual, technical and visual reprocessing of vehicles and delivery to Austria.

Peter Vanek, Managing Director of Gefco Austria, speaks first and foremost of the strategic advantages of bundling services in the neighboring country and of cross-border distribution: “The new workflow allows us to operate even more efficiently for our long-standing customer. That’s how the Peugeot Group gets everything from one source and can rely on a responsible and perfectly coordinated process.”

Previously, the cars of the brands Peugeot, Citroen and DS Automobiles destined for the Austrian market were distributed by Gefco using three different logistics centers in Austria and several internationally operating subcontractors. Now, the entire Austrian logistics chain for these car brands is bundled in the fully automated FVL (Finished Vehicle Logistics) logistics center in Trnava.

The completely newly built terrain in Trnava covers 8 hectares and offers space for about 2,700 vehicles. It also includes office space, as well as two state-of-the-art workshop halls, painting and washing facilities for visual and technical preparation of brand-new cars and commercial vehicles.

“We are now able to make a variety of personalisation of cars or conversions for commercial vehicles. Whether GPS systems, alarm systems, heated seats, parking cameras and assistance systems or fog lights – we can customise the cars on site in any kind. We also take over the so-called ‘pre-delivery inspection’, which includes compulsory equipment for the target market, even before delivery,” explains Andreas Zwickl, Head of FVL at Gefco Austria.
