Geis and Quehenberger form general cargo alliance in CEE/CIS

Quehenberger Poland becomes part of the Geis group; joint general cargo network of the two companies reaches from Austria to Russia

Quehenberger Logistics has sold its Polish organisation. The German transport and logistics group Geis is taking over seven locations in Poland and 88 employees, including a share in the PSD – Polski System Dystrybucji groupage cooperation. This was announced by both companies in a joint press release.

Moreover Quehenberger Logistics and Geis are forming a comprehensive cooperation for international general cargo transport in Central and Eastern Europe and the former CIS states. In future there will be a common action radius of both companies, with clearly defined competences. In the area of cooperation, which reaches from Austria to Russia, Quehenberger Logistics will concentrate on Austria, South-Eastern Europe including Romania and Bulgaria and Russia, the Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus. Starting from Southern Germany, Geis will cover the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.

The jointly operated groupage network in 15 countries is distinguished by standardisation of products, processes and the accompanying information technology. “We offer a uniform service area with universal standards. We are therefore able to execute procurement and distribution of all types,” states Christian Fürstaller, joint owner and CEO of Quehenberger Logistics. And Joachim Fink, Managing Director of Geis-Holding, adds, “In future, we will be able to offer innovative concepts which we are implementing in highly developed markets even now to our international customers in trade and industry throughout Central and Eastern Europe.“

The partnership of Quehenberger and Geis is limited to the groupage business in Central and Eastern Europe. There they have discovered a strategic window, which they wanted to utilise together. Both companies are also continuing to operate their existing partnerships in Southern, Western and Northern Europe, as well as their activities independently of one another in the sectors of Transport Management and Contract Logistics.
