Geodis and Kiala enter strategic alliance

Geodis and Kiala have entered into a strategic partnership with the launch of a joint offering, strengthening Geodis‘ e-business offering.

Kiala’s network of pick-up points covers five countries and is the most complete network in France. Together with Geodis‘ network of 112 France Express branches, the partnership creates a global transport and delivery service through a network of local relays.

As an alternative to Geodis‘ home deliveries, the group now offers a relay delivery service, with nationwide next-day express deliveries before midday – and before 10h00 for 16,000 localities – Saturdays included, through 5,000 local delivery points.

A comprehensive information system has also been set up:

  • E-mail or text alerts when the goods are shipped
  • Tracking information and proof of delivery available in real time on the Internet, allowing e-tailers and customers to keep track of the progress of the goods
  • E-mail or text message alerts when the goods arrive and are available at the delivery relay, with a reminder sent four days later

Geodis picks up the Kiala parcels when leaving the depot and transports them and delivers them to the final relay. Geodis also takes care of returns.

The two companies are currently looking into new relay delivery offerings that will be launched in the coming months.
