Grimaldi Group upgrades its MEX service

MEX service of Grimaldi Group between the Mediterranean Sea and West Africa to be enhanced by around 40 per cent capacity

 

The Mediterranean Express Service (MEX) of the Grimaldi Group (Naples) is about to be enhanced. Thanks to the deployment of bigger vessels, the loading capacity, both for containers and rolling freight, will increase by about 40% before the end of September. Moreover frequency will improve from the current 18 to about 16 days, as the shipping company announces in a press release.

In its MEX line Grimaldi Group will deploy two ro-multipurpose vessels that can carry 2,400 linear metres of rolling freight and 600 TEU. Departing from Salerno the service will call the ports of Genoa, Marseilles, Valencia, Casablanca (Morocco), Dakar (Senegal), Lome (Togo), Lagos (Nigeria), Cotonou (Benin) and Tema (Ghana). In addition several other West-African ports are served in transhipment from the port of Dakar. Via Salerno, the group also links West Africa with other Mediterranean ports such as Catania, Palermo, Cagliari, Malta, Tunisia, Piraeus, Izmir, Mersin, Yenikoy, Gemlik, Alexandria, Limassol, Ashdod, Beirut and Lattakia.
