H. Essers: Business unit East goes further East

H. Essers group expands its intermodal program on the axis Belgium-Romania as well as the transports from Europe to Russia and the surrounding countries

From April 2014 on, the business unit East of H. Essers group will expand its intermodal program from four to five trains per week between Belgium and Romania. This means 250 intermodal loads weekly, both for 45 ft containers as well as trailers on the train. “This will significantly reduce our carbon foot print and has a positive impact on the environment”, the company announces. The intermodal line between Belgium and Romania exist since 2006. The route Genk-Curtici is traveled in 38 hours.

An extra train between Belgium and Romania also means the increase of volumes to Turkey.  After all, from Curtici they truck loads to Istanbul, where its local partner Horoz delivers the shipments at the local customers. Through the cooperation with Horoz, H. Essers has a  distribution network in Turkey with 28 hubs and can almost double the volume of full loads forth and back.

Furthermore, H. Essers is expanding the transports to Russia. Three years ago the company started with one transport per week. Now they offer about 30 transports per week from all over Europe, via  its office in Vilnius, to the following countries: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia. All transports are permanently tracked by their own control tower in Romania.
