Hamburg Süd rationalises Eastern Mediterranean services

Shipping line Hamburg Süd is to modify its two-sling concept between North Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean Sea:

In response to negative market conditions, the Hamburg Süd shipping line will rationalise its services between North Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. From the first week of August onwards, the Northern Route Service (NEMN) is to be ceased. “The Southern Route Levante Service (NESM) will include key ports from the Northern Route Service”, the enterprise announces in a press release.

The new, weekly NESM service will (as in the previous service concept) deploy five 2,500 to 2,700 TEU vessels on the following rotation: Felixstowe, Antwerp, Hamburg, Tangiers, Alexandria, Limassol, Beirut, Latakia, Mersin, Izmir, Alexandria, Salerno and Felixstowe. From Tangiers connections will be available to Tunisia, Algeria and Western Mediterranean ports.

Additionally, in cooperation with Seago Line, two further weekly strings (Turkey and Israel Sling) are offered. The Turkey Sling calls at the following ports: Felixstowe, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Istanbul Ambarli, Izmit Korfezi, Gemlik, Izmir, Valencia and Felixstowe.
