Hamburg Süd reinforces service in the region of Izmir

Industrial areas in northern Turkey to be stronger integrated into the network of Hamburg Süd

Adjusting the two routes of the Europe-Mediterranean service (EMS), the German container shipping line Hamburg Süd improves the connections to and from the region of Izmir in northern Turkey. The vessels operated on the northbound route are calling at the TCEEGE terminal in Aliaga instead of Izmir (Alsancak) with immediate effect.

Aliaga is 55 kilometers in the north of Izmir in the Nemrut Bay. TCEEGE is a deep-water terminal that has sufficient capacity to guarantee a smooth handling. Moreover, the nearby railway station permits a rapid connection to the industrial areas in northern Turkey.

The port call in Aliaga (via the north route of the EMS) and the liner service to Izmir (Alsancak), which is integrated in the southbound route of the EMS, Hamburg Süd has now two stops in the region of Izmir in its weekly program. The new northbound route operates the following port rotation: Felixstowe, Bremerhaven, Göteborg, Aarhus, Antwerp, Gioia Tauro, Piraeus, Kumport, Gebze-Evyap, Aliaga, Gioia Tauro, Valencia, Felixstowe. The southbound EMS route follows the port rotation Felixstowe, Hamburg, Antwerp, Valencia, Alexandria, Beirut, Lattakia, Mersin, Izmir, Salerno and Felixstowe.
