Heinz renews with Wincanton

Heinz has renewed a contract with Wincanton for the provision of transport, warehouse and repack operations at the food manufacturer’s NDC in Wigan.

The contract renewal, which runs until 2019, extends the business relationship between the two firms beyond the 20-year mark.

Working from Heinz’s automated national distribution centre in Wigan, Wincanton handles approximately 35,000 loads, equating to over 90 million cases a year for despatch and delivery across the UK.

In addition, Wincanton also provides order management and transport to Heinz Ireland, managing inbound transport of raw material, and oversees the complete process of around 72,000 orders a year.

Andrew Henderson, Heinz UK & Ireland supply chain director said: “Wincanton is a proven, quality logistics service provider which offers flexible, expertise and insight to continually drive efficiencies in our supply chain.”
