„Hermes“ : Six-pack of awards for Austrian logistic companies

„Hermes Verkehrs.Logistik.Preise 2015“ recognise model projects of the Austrian transport and logistics industry in six categories

It was the curtain call for „Hermes Verkehrs.Logistik.Preise 2015“ on Wednesday night in the Vienna Hofburg. The national transport division of the Chamber of Commerce in Austria invited for the award-ceremony, which was attended by around 300 guests from business, politics and lobbying. The winners in the six „Hermes“ categories are all flagship company of the transport and logistics industry.

The „Hermes“ In the category of education was awarded to the Viennese company Kuehne+Nagel for their mentoring program for apprentices and trainees.

DPD Direct Parcel Distribution Austria from Lower Austria was the winner in the sustainability category with their own-developed reusable transport packaging system called Shuttle Box.

The „Hermes“ in the category security in transport logistics was handed over to the representatives of the international freight forwarding company Schneckenreither GmbH, recognising their innovations to increase safety at work in the logistics park „all wels“.

The „Next Generation“ category was won by a research project of the Vienna University of Technology in cooperation with Fraunhofer Austria Research GmbH. The aim of the „NEWS“ project is to quantify the flow of goods in the Danube region and to assess which are suited for waterway transport.

The fifth category „Best SME“ was won by Wenzel logistics GmbH from Unterpremstätten. They convinced the jury with their intermodal rail shuttle system.

The sixth „Hermes“ was given to Prof. Dr. Peter Faller as an award for his lifetime achievement. The 83-year-old economist is considered a scientific standard of the transport industry and is among other things Emeritus at the Institute of Transport and Logistics of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, as well as a member of the board of the Austrian Logistics association Bundesvereinigung Logistik.
