Honold starts record investment

 
Honold Logistik Group starts mega-construction at location in Augsburg

On January 20 the foundation stone was laid for an ambitious new building at the freight traffic centre in Augsburg. Honold Logistik Group invests EUR 13 million into the construction of a modern logistics centre. The first construction-stage will comprise the creation of 1,600 sq. m. office and 8,500 sq. m. warehouse and handling area. The next construction step will be the expansion to a hall area of 13,000 sq. m. with 90 gates and 30,000 pallet slots. About 10 per cent of the investment is reserved for the acquisition of SAP R/3 software and modern rack technology.

“The first construction stage will be finished as per July 1, 2009”, as the Honold Logistik Group announces in a press release. The first client will be the automotive manufacturer BMW, who establishes a “Transhipment Point” in Augsburg.

Honold Logistik Group based in Neu-Ulm (Germany) employs more than 1,250 persons at 22 locations with a total logistics area of 750,000 square metres in Germany, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and China. The enterprise operates assembling, packing, repair, quality and distribution centres and is member of reputable network systems. The service range concentrates in the industry segments automotive, agriculture, consumer/industry, e-commerce, tire and metal. In 2008 the annual turnover amounted to around EUR 225 million.
