IAM gets immediate support for new SAA freighter

Leading Irish GSA IAM is already receiving support for the new MD11 freighter services from Amsterdam to Johannesburg inaugurated by its principal South African Airways (SAA) in late June.

IAM is feeding the new flights using its express road feeder service from Dublin to Amsterdam, which closes out at 18:00 nightly. The flights operate mid-week and at weekends, arriving in Johannesburg the next day. SAA is studying the possibility of an additional frequency.

The SAA freighters provide rare maindeck capacity to Johannesburg, says IAM MD Ian McCool: “We don’t expect demand for these services every day, but it’s a very useful addition to the capacity on SAA’s 21 passenger flights per week from Heathrow, giving us out-of-gauge capability and uplift for dangerous goods.”

IAM has represented SAA in Ireland since 2003. It is Ireland’s largest cargo GSSA company, representing 13 leading airlines, and forming the core of an expanding group which now includes cargo handling, air cargo road transportation and aviation training activities. IAM is the exclusive Irish member of EGSAC, the network of independent cargo GSSA companies with 60 offices in over 30 countries. For further information please contact:
