IMS container operator moved a record volume in 2014

Container volume shifted to the railway by IMS was up by a quarter in 2014 – with sales revenues developing unequally moderate though

IMS container operator handled over 216,000 TEU in 2014. This record volume resulted in a consolidated turnover of EUR 48.2 million, announces the Vienna-based enterprise.

„Despite the difficult environment on many routes we were able to increase our total volume by 26 per cent, compared to 2013 significantly“, says Wolfgang Tomassovich, CEO of IMS. „All of our country organisations were able to increase their volume, which fills me with pride and prove, we are on the right track.“

Turnover increased only slightly by 4 per cent, which illustrates the problem of the industry over the recent years. With rising costs of energy, route and energy, revenues stagnate. From the perspective of combined transport 2015 will also be a difficult year. Based on the ongoing euro crisis and the associated restraint in consumption, IMS can not assume that there will be significant volume increases in 2015. As in the past years, especially in Austria but also in Switzerland, it will be about the shift of market shares. “However, IMS is well positioned also for 2015, staffed as well operationally“, Tomassovich says confidently.

IMS was founded in 1993 as private container operator. With branch offices in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland, Hungary, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Portugal, and global partners, the full service provider offers all services related to combined transport. Today there are around 100 employees on the payroll.
