Insolvency of French transport logistics group Mory Ducros

Mory Ducros shoks France: one of the biggest bankruptcy cases in years; threat of loss of up to 3,000 jobs

Mory Ducros, a major transport and logistics provider in France, is facing severe economic turmoil. On November 22 the enterprise announced its insolvency and filed application for bankruptcy proceedings. The insolvency affects about 5,000 employees at 85 locations. It is one of the biggest cases of bankruptcy in France sine the bankruptcy of Moulinex, the manufacturer of household appliances, with 5,500 employees in 2001.

The CFDT labour union is fearing a social plan related to the loss of 2,000 to 3,000 jobs. However, the company refused any statement so far, and aims at restructuring with the aid of investors. Mory Ducros has by their own account more than 4,500 vehicles and 85 locations in France for Eruope-wide delivery of convenient pallet cargo to special products in the segments of chemicals and pharmaceuticals or cross docking. The enterprise was formed at the end of 2012 through a merger of the two companies Mory and Ducros. In 2012 turnover amounted to EUR 700 million.
