Kühne + Nagel attends to European „Ben Hur Live“ tour
Monumental „Ben Hur Live“ show counts on Kühne + Nagel logistics The Kühne + Nagel specialists are presently busy with a very special project. KN Expo Service, the division specialising in exhibition and trade fair logistics, was appointed partner for the transport handling for the world premiere and the following European tour for the "Ben Hur Live" show by the production and event organiser company Art Concerts GmbH. Kühne + Nagel organises and handles the transport of the material needed in the 14 European venues. 36 trucks with megatrailers will transport the costumes for about 400 artists, 46 horses, pigeons, birds of prey, galleys, ancient buildings and the lighting equipment. Due to the tight time slots the logistician will use shifts manned by three drivers who will be transported to the checkpoints at which the driver change will take place by shuttlebuses. The world premiere has been in London on September 17th 2009 and until the end of January 2010 the show will travel to Hamburg, Stuttgart, Munich, Milan, Zurich, Lissabon, Gelsenkirchen, Vienna, Budapest, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid and Manchester. Starting at the end of March 2010 further shows will take place in Australia and Europe as well as in North- and South America in 2011. "The special challenge in the "Ben Hur Live" tour lies in the considerable tour material that needs to be transported between the different venues in extremely tight time slots and the fact that those deliveries need to be scheduled to meet timed set building requirements", says Georg Nork, head of KN Expo Service. He adds: "This interesting job provides us with the possibility to show the desirability of our integrated customer solutions in event- and concert logistics as well as the efficiency of our European road transport network."
