Logistic Services Danubius is now DB Schenker Rail Romania

Logistic Services Danubius has been renamed DB Schenker Rail Romania in Bucharest and Timisoara.

According to Hans-Georg Werner, the DB Schenker Rail management board member responsible for Region East, Romania offers enormous potential for development in cross-border rail freight transport due to its growing export economy and due to the relocation of foreign companies‘ production facilities to the region.

DB Schenker Rail Romania’s objectives include shifting more freight transport from road to rail and offering customers continuous transport from a single source. The company invested in locomotives and wagons specifically for this purpose.

DB Schenker has been active on the domestic Romanian market through one of its own companies since 2000. Dr Michael Hetzer, chief executive of DB Schenker Rail Romania said that around 45% of transport is already international, and the company has border agreements with rail operators in neighbouring countries.

In addition to conducting and organising freight transport for customers in the automotive, building materials, and other industries, DB Schenker Rail Romania also offers comprehensive industrial shunting and maintenance services.

DB Schenker Rail Romania has head offices in Bucharest and Timisoara, and is represented at other locations in Romania. It has its own electric and diesel shunting and traction locomotives and its own vehicle fleet.
