Logistics by DB Schenker for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport

From the Austrian and British Grands Prix to the Hungarian Grand Prix: Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport and the experts from DB Schenker put the pedal to the metal. The integrated logistics services provider is actively assisting the World Champions and will accompany the team at all major races across all of Europe.

This is not a simple task. Most of the biggest race tracks in Europe are located far apart from one another, and the time between each race is tight. DB Schenker´s logistics experts had only a few days between Spielberg and Silverstone for break-down, transport and set-up, and the Hungarian Grand Prix is already upon us.

DB Schenker will provide support at seven European Grand Prix races between May (in Spain) and September (in Italy) of this year, as well as for all test runs and publicity events within Europe.

Five silver-liveried race trucks and a fleet of white Mercedes-Benz ACTROS semitrailers in DB Schenker livery will be transporting the two Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ racing cars, spare parts, equipment for the workshops, the engineering office and the modules for the motorhome. At the race track, DB Schenker specialists will also be responsible for setting everything up.

This will include putting together gray and black containers to form the motorhome – a three-story building complete with a rooftop terrace and cooking station to serve as meeting point for VIP guests, drivers, team officials and media. DB Schenker employees are also responsible for all the fixtures and furnishings – everything from cables to tables.

A high level of precision is required to set up the engineering offices: two trailers need to be positioned right next to each other so that all the complex equipment involved can be installed and connected. A core team, with more than 30 drivers, technicians and project managers, is responsible for making sure the equipment is delivered on time at all the European race tracks. Each transport service is planned months in advance, down to the last Detail.
