Lufthansa Cargo expands its electronic services

Lufthansa Cargo is the world’s first cargo airline to make an application available for digital creation of the transport documents required for dangerous goods. The new DGD.online offering will support shippers and can be used in equal measure for shipments sent via air, road and sea. Siemens Healthcare GmbH is one of the first users of DGD.online.

“This new application fits seamlessly into our digitization strategy. DGD.online will have a lasting, positive effect on the productivity of our service delivery process”, said Markus Dess, logistics process planner at Siemens Healthineers.

DGD.online can be used to, for example, generate electronically signed dangerous goods declarations and send them automatically, complete with attachments such as safety data sheets. Forwarders and other logistics providers can also be digitally integrated into the handling process, facilitating paperless cooperation. DGD.online is equipped for future use of eDGD. The integrated validation and convenience features can help accelerate processes and prevent costly errors.
