Lufthansa Cargo: “Full program despite pilots’ strike!”

Lufthansa Cargo wants to operate all international cargo flights ex Frankfurt am Main despite the pilots’ walkout on 8 and 9 October 2014

The pilots’ union, Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), has announced a walkout with Lufthansa Cargo AG for today and tomorrow. The pilots of Lufthansa Cargo AG will go on strike on 8 October 2014 from 3 am to Thursday, 9 October 2014 at 10:30 pm, and will not carry out departures from German airports. This strike shall help to achieve a new collective agreement on transitional payments. The strike affects 21 flights.

According to a press release the airline plans to operate all of its flights in this period despite the walkout announced by the pilots’ union, Vereinigung Cockpit. Two flights will be departing earlier than scheduled, allowing them to bypass the strike period.

As Lufthansa Cargo generally flies about half of its freight in the bellies of Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines passenger aircraft, the effects for customers of the LH cargo division will be kept at an absolute minimum.
