Lufthansa invests in freighter fleet

Lufthansa has confirmed orders for five Boeing 777 freighters for its Logistics business segment.

The orders are in line with Lufthansa’s ongoing fleet modernisation and expansion policy.

The investment in the new aircraft strengthens the airline’s competitiveness, enabling greater fuel efficiency and helping to reduce operating costs as well as noise levels and emissions.

According to Boeing, the 777 freighter is a highly fuel-efficient aircraft with low-noise emissions, meeting QC2 noise standards. The long-range and high-capacity 777 freighter features the lowest trip cost of any large freighter.

The five new Boeing 777 freighters are expected to join Lufthansa’s fleet from 2013.
