LUG aircargo handling enters the year 2014 with investments

LUG aircargo handling company expects continued growth thanks to prominent new customers

LUG aircargo handling, a company of the Dettmer Group KG, the oldest cargo handling company at the Frankfurt airport, plans to continue its expansion. From January 1, 2014 the team will be joined by new members in the segments of customer care, hazardous goods and management. In the first two months also 20 new employees will start working in the warehouse.

On January 7 construction works will start for a steel rack mounted below the hall’s ceiling. Up to 600 empty air freight containers can be stored there. Moreover LUG plans to invest into a stacker system for up to 350 ready-to-go ULD. This shall increase efficiency of the use of space and the storage capacity. In April the enterprise will launch a new software tool for active ramp control and accelerated truck handling.

„In the coming months we want to concentrate on additional quality improvement, to increase customer satisfaction and improve our results. In addition we want to achieve a better balance of our customer portfolio. We currently put a strong focus on Asia. In future we will also direct our sales efforts to North and Latin America“, says Patrik Tschirch, managing director.

In 2013 LUG aircargo handling added the following airlines to their customer portfolio: International Airlines Group Cargo (Frankfurt and Munich), Cathay Pacific Cargo (Frankfurt), Czech Airlines (Munich) and Rossiya (Munich). Many airlines have also renewed their contracts, e.g. SAA Cargo (Frankfurt and Munich) and Cargolux (Frankfurt). Patrik Tschirch: “In 2013 we handled more than 300,000 tonnes of air cargo in Frankfurt and Munich and we are expecting further growth for 2014.“
