Luka Koper marks increase in volumes in the first half of 2014

Port of Koper (Slovenia): Significant increase in container throughput – also general cargoes performed well in the first half of 2014

In the first half of 2014, the Luka Koper Group handled a total of 9.3 million tonnes of cargo, which is four percent above the first half year 2013 and two percent ahead of plans. First half year operating revenues amounted to almost EUR 80 million euros, which is six percent ahead of the plan and nine percent more than in the first half of year 2013.

EBIT in the amount of EUR 18.3 million was 69 percent ahead of the same period last year. EBITDA, amounting to EUR 31.9 million, increased by 29 percent. Net profit for the first half of 2014 amounted to EUR 14.5 million euros, which is 86 percent ahead of the equivalent last year period.

“The Management Board is very satisfied with achieved results. The net profit is mainly the result of increase of revenues practically in all product groups, and mostly in containers‘ throughput. Also general cargoes performed well, an upturn was recorded in volumes of ferrous materials, livestock and timber. Likewise, investments have been implemented according to the plans, and increased by 158 percent in comparison to the previous year. As announced, this year is particularly marked with investments in infrastructure and equipment. And I should mention the most important one, the dredging of Basin I, which is currently being finalised«, the President of the Management board of Luka Koper, Mr. Dragomir Matić, comments on the business results.
