Made.com doubles space at London Gateway

Online furniture and lifestyle company Made.com is more than doubling its space at DP World’s 10 million ft2 London Gateway development in the south east.

It will open an additional 350,000 ft2 of new warehousing over two phases, with the first phase complete by August this year and the second in April 2022, to help it meet customer demand for online retail and further optimise its supply chain.

The company as reported in Logistics Manager originally took a 165,000 ft2 warehouse  at London Gateway in 2019 replacing its original distribution centre near Ipswich in Suffolk.

Nicola Thompson, Chief Operating Officer at Made.com said: “Combined with our innovative ‘just in time’ supply chain model, this expansion of our warehousing facility in Tilbury is an exciting step towards achieving our long-term strategy to grow the business sustainably, as we continue to invest in operational efficiency and become the design destination for digital natives.”

Oliver Treneman, Park Development Director at DP World in the UK, said: “As the economy grows and consumers purchase more goods online, businesses increasingly need smarter logistics solutions to serve their customers. By providing the ability for occupiers to expand we are supporting businesses with the scalability they need to grow in tandem with our rapidly expanding Logistics Park.”
