Maersk to offer digital ocean customs clearance

Maersk has launched a customs clearance online shipping management platform to cater to the different rules, regulations and laws cargo is put through in various countries when it comes to importing and exporting ocean cargo.

The number of intermediaries customers deal with is reduced from three or four to one, including paperwork, reducing the time spent on transactional procedures.

“This new one-stop-shop allows us to timely and efficiently handle export and import declarations for our customers. The solution provides downstream benefits of full governance and compliance, eliminates the need to provide a quote as pricing is displayed online, saving three to five minutes per quote,” said AP Moller – Maersk chief commercial officer Vincent Clerc.

The platform will be available in seven European countries: Germany, France, Denmark, The Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom and Spain. Maersk aims to expand the service by the end of 2019.
