Mag. Friedrich Lehr is the new president of ProDanube Austria
ProDanube Austria association aims to put more emphasis on the significance of the inland waterway along the Rhine-Main-Danube corridor for society
The Pro Danube Austria association has a new “captain“. In an extraordinary meeting on October 31, the newly formed board has elected Mag. Friedrich Lehr (43) as the new president. The full-time manager of Hafen Wien Management GmbH succeeds Christian Steindl, who retired stepped down from his position due to a career change. „My primary goal is to emphasise on the ecological and economic importance of inland navigation along the Rhine-Main-Danube corridor,“ said Friedrich Lehr in a first statement. The association had become clearly visible among other things through the greater involvement of industry in recent years.
The newly elected board of ProDanube Austria now consists of the following persons: Mag. Alexander Klacska as the representative of the Austrian Economic Chamber, DI Horst Felbermayr as representative of the river shipping industry, DI Christoph Henöckl for trade, DI Christian Mokry as industry representative, Dr. Ralph Gallob as a „front man“ of the logistics industry, Mag.Friedrich Lehr, Mag. Otto Schwetz (Vice President) and Mag. Manfred Seitz. A representative of the Federation of Austrian Industries will be appointed shortly. The management is in the hands of Mag. Patricia Luger.
ProDanube Austria is an independent and non-party platform representing the overall interest of navigation in Austria and is strongly committed to creating shipping-friendly conditions. The goal of the association is to give a wider audience understanding of the advantage of inland shipping and inland ports for the transport of goods, as well as of the importance of passenger ships – locally and transnationally. Both in politics and in the broad public awareness, attention shall be obtained for the need for a logistic connection of waterway transport and the Danube regime in particular with railway and road, as this shall help to maximise the benefit for the whole industry and quality of life of the population.
