Marco Pernetta new head of Innsbruck Airport

Innsbruck Airport: Longterm director Reinhold Falch will retire by the end of March 2014; Marco Pernetta appointed as successor

Last week the die has been cast on the issue of a successor for Reinhold Falch longterm director at the Innsbruck Airport. The previous authorised signatory Marco Pernetta (46) is to assume the position as the head of the airport effective April 1, 2014. After 19 years as head of the airport Reinhold Falch will retire at the end of March 2014. Under his direction the airport in Tyrol’s capital has developed into a profitable business.

Marco Pernetta emerged as the winner from a hearing with four final candidates, in which initially more than 40 people had applied – with no more than one woman among them. After intense deliberations and an unanimously taken decision the owner representatives – Patrizia Zoller Frischauf (Regional Minister), Christine Oppitz-Plörer (Innsbruck’s Mayor), Harald Schneider (CEO of IKB AG), and Paula Stecher, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board – were pleased with the excellent appointment for Falch’s successor.

The aviation and aerospace engineer graduate Marco Pernetta comes from Berlin. He has been holding a leading position at Innsbruck Airport for 14 years and is a member of the Executive Board since 2005. The airport is held by 51 per cent by the Innsbruck Kommunalbetriebe. The city of Innsbruck and Tyrol hold 24.5 per cent of the shares.

This year about 1 million passengers and 3,500 tonnes of air freight will be handled at the Innsbruck Airport. The annual turnover of EUR 35 million lets expect a record result.
