Masped Zrt. (Budapest) concentrates on two divisions

Logistics services and international FTL are the Masped group’s new focuses

The Hungarian forwarding group Masped is about to streamline its service portfolio. Having sold the shares of the joint enterprise Masped-Schenker

(air/sea freight and customs) and Masped-Railog (rail forwarding) to DB Schenker, the enterprise concentrates its activities now to land transport with a focus on international full loads and logistic services. In these two divisions 500 employees are on the pay roll, who generated a turnover at around HUF 18 billion in the year 2009.

Masped group operates around 60,000 sq. m. of covered warehousing area at two locations in Greater Budapest and in the industrial centres

Szekesfehervar and Szeged. In Szeged a new warehouse is being built. The start of operation is planned for early 2011. A considerable expansion of

the logistic basis is planned for the Masped port in the Budapest city district Csepel.

At a press conference in Budapest Istvaán Kautz, CEO of the Masped group, says the reason for the withdrawal from the air/sea freight and rail

logistics segments was the small contribution of his company group to the total volume. “The days of private forwarders in the rail forwarding business are numbered. In this segment the logistics subsidiaries of the national railway companies will set the tone in the future”, was his prognosis. Notwithstanding the Head of Masped announced further steps to expand activities of the private rail freight transport company that was founded in 2008.
