Militzer & Münch: 1,000th truck for Sharp to Russia

Electronics provider Sharp drives well with Militzer & Münch’s logistics solution to Greater Moscow since 2011

Militzer & Münch has recently organised the 1,000th truck transportation for its customer Sharp to Russia. After seven days and more than 2,100 kilometres the goods arrived in Russia’s capital. The logistics service provider headquartered in St. Gallen, Switzerland has developed a special supply chain solution between Hamburg and Moscow on behalf of the electronics provider.

The Port of Hamburg is one of Sharp’s most important ports for importations in Europe. Sharp’s European central warehouse in Hamburg serves as a hub for supply of the Russian market as well. Road transportation to Sharp Russia’s central warehouse in Moscow lies in the hands of Militzer & Münch since August 2011. In addition to the Sharp central warehouse the logistician also delivers time-sensitive shipments directly to retailers in Greater Moscow. For less time-sensitive goods Sharp uses Militzer & Münch’s short sea transport via St. Petersburg as an alternative. Transported goods comprise office and household appliances as well as high-value consumer electronics.

The Militzer & Münch group employs a staff of about 2,800 at 100 locations in over 30 countries. Militzer & Münch sees itself as a specialist for Eurasia and North Africa and offers road and rail overland transports, air and sea freight, as well as project logistics as international services along the East-West axis. The enterprise operates a dense network of branch offices in East Europe, the CIS, in the Middle East and the Far East as well as in the Maghreb countries. The head office of the company that goes back to 1880 is in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
