Essar Ports forms strategic alliance with Port of Antwerp

Port of Antwerp pushes growth of port traffic through cooperation with Indian port company Essar
 
Port of Antwerp International announced the creation of a long-term strategic alliance with Essar Ports Limited, an Indian private port company, effective 24th May 2012. The Port of Antwerp invested around EUR 2.5 million into Essar Ports. The aim of the partnership is to provide each other technical assistance for port planning, process improvement, as well as quality and productivity improvement. The companies expect this cooperation to increase port traffic between Port of Antwerp and Ports of Essar.
 
Essar Ports, a company of the Essar Group, has two operational ports at Hazira and Vadinar and is currently developing two terminals at Paradip as well as a terminal at Salaya. The private Indian port company has a current capacity of 88 million tonnes per year and intends to expand this capacity to 158 million tonnes per year over the next few years. The Essar Group is a multinational conglomerate in the sectors of steel, energy, power, construction, retail, shipping, ports, infrastructure and services. With operations in more than 25 countries across five continents, the group employs 75,000 people, and has revenues of USD 27 billion.
