CMA CGM saved USD 800 million last year

CMA CGM container shipping company achieved improvements for all key figures in 2012
 
The French container shipping group CMA CGM registered significantly increasing business volumes in 2012. Consolidated revenue rose by 7 per cent in 2012, to USD 15.9 billion from USD 14.9 billion in 2011. While EBITDA soared 82 per cent year-on-year from USD 729 million to USD 1,324 million, consolidated net profit stood at USD 361 million for the year, after a loss of USD 5 million in 2011. Moreover, CMA CGM has implemented its action plan during the year, which has generated USD 800 million savings.
 
The group registered a 6 per cent-growth in volumes carried, to 10.6 million TEU from 10.0 million TEU in 2011. The fleet was enlarged from 394 to 414 vessels (+5 per cent). In line with that fleet capacity increased from 1.345 million TEU to 1.446 million TEU (+8 per cent). Regarding positive trends in CMA CGM’s key markets (the United States, Russia and emerging markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America), the group expects an operating performance for 2013 in line with 2012.
 
Established in 1978, today CMA CGM is the world’s third largest container shipping group. The group headquartered in Marseille, France, operates out of over 650 offices and agencies in more than 150 countries, with 17,000 staff members worldwide.
