MR Transport & Spedition GmbH became insolvent

Slump in orders in the steel industry drove MR Transport & Spedition GmbH into bankruptcy

Another case of insolvency appeared in the Austrian market for transport and logistics services. At the regional court Ried/Innkreis the bankruptcy proceedings about the assets of the forwarding company MR Transport & Spedition GmbH in Waldzell were opened on 11 January. The insolvency affects 56 employees and around 60 creditors. The amount of liabilities is EUR 3.18 million, while assets are indicated with EUR 1.108 million.

According to the KSV 1870 (Austrian association for the protection of creditors) the enterprise specialised on steel transportation has faced economic turbulences in 2008 already, caused by the strong increase in fuel prices and costs of financing. In 2009 crisis-induced slumps in orders from the steel industry affected the transport company and became evident in a 20 per cent decline in turnover. Now the enterprise had to apply for insolvency due to debts and inability to pay. The company is about to be closed.
